Dragon Capital is Ukraine’s leading independent investment bank and has advised hundreds of Ukrainian companies on their corporate finance needs. Dragon Capital was a pioneer in the development of the Ukrainian capital markets and has played an integral role in attracting investors for IPOs, private placements and debt financings. Moreover, possessing a global perspective with a grassroots understanding of the local market, our team has been able to provide advisory services on some of the country’s most significant M&A transactions.
Our investment banking team benefits from both Ukrainian and western-market veterans and is known for its professionalism, knowledge and experience. Under our team’s guidance, Dragon Capital has quickly developed a reputation as a world-class competitor in Ukraine and the CEE region. Well versed in all investment banking products and heavily engaged in nearly all sectors of Ukraine’s diversified economy, Dragon Capital is a one-stop-shop for mid- to large-cap Ukrainian companies and strategic investors alike.
Equity Capital Markets has traditionally been the core of Dragon Capital’s business. From 2006, our Investment Banking Division has raised nearly $2 billion in equity capital for Ukrainian companies from nearly all sectors of the economy. We take pride in being #1 in terms of number of ECM deals completed and our walls proudly display tombstones of more than 50 IPOs and private placements.
Among our biggest ECM deals are the $208m IPO and $100m SPO for Dragon-Ukrainian Properties & Development on the London AIM as well as the private placements for Platinum Bank and Ukraine’s leading agricultural producer, Mriya.
In early 2008, Dragon Capital set out to compete in the Ukrainian debt markets. In doing so, we have become a dominant fixed-income player working with sovereign and quasi-sovereign debt, Eurobonds, structured finance, bilateral debt, local corporate and municipal bonds. Our DCM team has been assembled from some of the top talent at well-recognized firms such as Standard Bank, ING and BNP Paribas and who have years of experience working in the Ukrainian and CEE fixed income markets.
Despite the global credit crisis, Dragon Capital has been able to raise debt financing for our clients, such as Ukrainian Railways, Vodafone, Platinum Bank, Agroton and other. DCM will continue to play an increasingly important role for our clients and, as a result, it will play an increasingly important role for our business.
Dragon Capital’s M&A Advisory practice was established to help mid-sized and large multinational companies navigate the cloudy and sometimes turbulent acquisition process in Ukraine. Over the past 15 years, we have helped a large number of well-known multinationals evaluate the local market, develop entry strategies, and complete acquisitions. Some of the best-known names are construction materials giants CRH and Heidelberg Cement; global brewer InBev; leading Russian retail chain Perekriostok, and Ukraine’s largest bread baking holding, KyivKhlib.
Together with our corporate clients, our M&A practice has matured to a point where we have become a valuable partner for our clients when considering the sale of their business. Selling a business requires considerable expertise and tenacity and Dragon Capital has demonstrated such qualities, having established itself as the leading independent M&A advisor with a long and successful track record. Some of our proudest achievements include the sale of Allseeds to Kernel Group, the merger of white goods retailers Comfy and BytTexnika, and the acquisition of one of Ukraine’s best known consumer brands, Chumak.
